Love is such a Beautiful thing!!!
That song’s been in my head today. (the Boys II Men version)
So, the 2nd day of “13 days of Love” and the verse we are looking at is:
1 Corinthians 13 vs 2
2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
I’d say that verse is pretty straight forward, and we are onto a theme here. Yesterday we learned that living a life without love leaves us ‘useless’, and today we see that without love we are nothing.
I just love how the author uses examples such as ‘gifts of prophesy’, ‘ability to fathom mysteries’, ‘knowledge’, and ‘incredible faith’, as each of these gifting are things that many of us strive towards. Truth is though that even if we are able to attain either or all those things yet be without love… our life would be meaningless… empty… filled with… NOTHNG!
Thinking about this concept is so difficult because when I think of a person with great faith, or of vast knowledge, etc. I imagine a person with seemingly sooo much. I mean think about it! In our society we tend to glorify these kinds of people. We look up to them, and often strive to be like them, but lets not forget that having only those things, and lacking love leaves us living a very sad and empty life.
So my question to you today is…. What have you been striving towards in your life? Is increasing your LOVE one of them? Just don’t forget that a life full of other stuff still leaves you empty if Love’s not in it!!!
